Saint Knuds Kirke, or Odense Domkirke is the oldest and biggest church in Odense. The cathedral is mainly build in Gothic style. One of the curiosities of the cathedral is the crypt where you can see on display the skeleton of King Canute and also his brother Benedict. Den Fynske Landsby is an interesting open-air-museum consisting of about 30 traditional buildings of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Egeskov, one of Europe's best preserved Renaissance water castles, looks like a fairy-tale-castle, built on an island in a small lake about 40 km south of Odense. The castle is still inhabited but the wide park of Egeskov is open to the public. Inside the park you’ll find the veteran auto museum, the toy museum, the deer-park, a huge tree-house and a baroque garden-labyrinth. Odense is a charming little town with a rich concentration of galleries and museums and an engaging cultural scene. Housed in one of the best-preserved buildings, the Hanseatic Museum presents an interesting picture of commercial activity during those times. Starting from Torget or Bryggen, explore the jungle of houses on the slopes of Mount Floien. Karlstad School Museum is located opposite the cathedral. The museum has a large collection of school objects, educational material from mid-19th century and school uniforms. One of the major tourist attractions in Karlstad is the Värmland Museum situated at the corner where the Klarälven River splits. There are a dozen permanent exhibits in the museum that will guide you through the history of Värmland. Sola i Kallsta, the sun in Karlstad, a popular local expression, refers to a nice and happy servant girl that lived in Karlstad in the 17th century. There is a sculpture of her placed outside the Stadshotellet and Bishop's Arms pub. Karlstad is nice, beautiful and friendly and the surrounding Värmland holds a treasure in nature: Tiveden National Park.
